Are you planning to take the PA Notary Exam?

Here’s are some key details you should know:

The cost of the exam is $65

All new notaries are required to complete a basic education course and pass the exam.

Notaries whose commission has expired must also complete a basic education course and pass the exam.

You will be allotted 60 minutes to answer 30 multiple choice questions.

The exam is administered by Pearson, one of the largest test proctor in the US.

5 out of the 30 questions are pretest questions that will not impact your score.

Exam results are calculated using a scaled scoring system.

A scaled score can range from 0 to 100.

A score BELOW 75 will indicate that you failed the exam.


If you fail the exam, you can retake it for an unlimited number of times within your six-month window.


You cannot take the exam more than once within a twenty-four hour period.


Each time you take the exam, you will have to reschedule it and pay a fee.


A score of 75 or greater will indicate that you passed the exam.


A passing score is valid for one year.


Although, you can retake the exam an unlimited number of times for up to six months.

It’s best to be prepared to pass on the first try.

All students get six months unlimited access to the notary course and practice tests.
